BOOTLEG SHAKESPEARE: The Two Gentlemen of Verona

FREE ADMISSION!

About the Event

In this one-night-only and FREE event, 15 professional actors assemble to stage a Shakespeare production in ONE DAY, only to perform it that very night to a free audience!

30 days before the show, each actor is given a script and their character. In that time, they are responsible for learning their lines, preparing their own props and costumes and bringing in a clearly defined character.

Always entertaining and always unpredictable, this annual event has been delighting Richmond audiences for 12 years!

This year we will take on THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA.

The production features some of Richmond’s favorite actors, a great live band, and a well stocked bar!

Oh, and there’s a bit with a dog...

THIS YEAR’S CAST:

Dixon Cashwell, Rachel Dillaplane, James Murphy, Emily Berry, Liz Blake-White, Nicole Morris-Anastasi, John Cauthen, Fred Kaufman, Kellan Oelkers, Foster Solomon, Sharalyn Bailey, Claire Wittman, Joel White, Katherine Wright

Direction: Jeff Cole

The premise is based on the ‘Bootleg’ copies of live concerts we all passed around in the 70’s and 80’s which were usually a recording of a recording. Not quite the song you love as you remember it -a little strange, a little unpredictable and not quite as crisp as the professional studio recording.

Inspired by our friends at TAFFETY PUNK THEATRE in Washington DC, this one-night-only event is always played to full houses and provides some great performances.
