Richmond Performing Arts Alliance (RPAA), formerly Richmond CenterStage Foundation, is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide diverse local and world-class performing arts, transformative arts education experiences for students of all ages and inspirational venues—all to strengthen the cultural and economic vitality of Greater Richmond.

In addition to its comprehensive BrightLights Education program and wide array of performances and productions, RPAA hosts a range of resident arts companies and other performing arts groups in a collaborative environment and oversees a range of distinctive venues: Altria Theater at Monroe Park and the Dominion Energy Center which houses Carpenter Theatre and Dorothy Pauley Square—home to Rhythm Hall, Showcase Gallery, the Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse and the Genworth BrightLights Education Center.


Providing transformative arts education for students of all ages is at the heart of the mission of Richmond Performing Arts Alliance (RPAA).

In addition to our work in arts education, RPAA serves as an advocate for the arts and arts in education. We aim to serve as a voice for the incredible work being done by ‚Äčarts teachers in schools and school systems across our region, the vibrant arts education programs of our resident companies and other arts partners and colleagues, and simply put, the critical need for the arts to be a part of children's education.
