Plus highlights from the past 34 years
With Richmond Symphony

Commemorate the past, celebrate the moment, and toast to the future as we kick off our 35th Anniversary Season! As George Balanchine was famously quoted, “but first a school,” there is no better way to begin our celebration than with the foundation of the Company in mind. Honoring the School of Richmond Ballet, we open with Jerome Robbins’ Circus Polka, a lively piece featuring 48 students and a dapper ringmaster. The gala performance continues with a retrospective of the journey the Company has taken since its inception. Performing favorite moments from seasons past, the dancers will lead the audience through a rich history of works that have brought Richmond Ballet to where it is today. The evening closes with Balanchine’s salute to New York City, Who Cares?, a gleeful romp performed to such Gershwin classics as “’S Wonderful,” “Embraceable You,” and “I Got Rhythm.” Watch as the dancers pop and sparkle their way into a night of celebration!
