CARPENTER THEATRE RANKED IN TOP 50 THEATERS IN THE WORLD BY POLLSTAR

(RICHMOND, VA) Dominion Energy Center’s Carpenter Theatre, operated by ASM Global, has been ranked within the Top 50 Theaters in the World in Pollstar’s 2023 Q1 Rankings.

In the Q1 Pollstar reporting, Carpenter Theatre finished #49 for Top 50 Theaters in the World and the #42 Theater in the United States. Comparatively to Pollstar’s 2022 Year-End reporting, the venue stood at #89 for Top 100 Theaters in the World and the #71 Theater in the United States.

Representing the state, Dominion Energy Center’s Carpenter Theatre ranked the #2 Theater to Altria Theater, selling 33,235 tickets between November 18, 2022, and February 14, 2023. Both venues are managed by ASM Richmond and supported by Richmond Performing Arts Alliance.

“The venue’s exponential growth in Q1 is thanks to the success of our Resident Company partners, including the Richmond Symphony, the Richmond Ballet, Virginia Opera, and other local theatrical and performing arts organizations,” said Tabitha Sechrist, Dominion Energy Center General Manager.

From mid-November through mid-February, the venue hosted 26 performances, of which all but one was presented by a Resident Company partner. Highlights for the quarter included a 15-performance run of The Nutcracker by the Richmond Ballet, four presentations from the Richmond Symphony, and two presentations from the Virginia Opera, as well as a nearly sold-out performance by comedian Kevin James.

“We are headed into an exciting and expansive schedule of events as we look toward the remainder of the year,” said Sechrist. “In addition to presentations by our Resident Company partners, we’ll host numerous comedians, concerts, family entertainment, and theatrical performances before the end of the year.”

“It’s an exciting time for ASM Richmond, the venue, and the Greater Richmond Region. We look forward to welcoming both patrons and performers through our doors.”
