Accessibility

Entrances to all of our venues are handicapped accessible. The Carpenter Theatre entrance is at the corner of 6th Street and Grace Street, and the entrance to Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse and Rhythm Hall is on Grace Street between 6th and 7th Streets.

There are accessible parking spaces available in a lot located on Grace Street across from the main entrance and a deck on the corner of 6th and Franklin Streets, which is one block away from the venue as well.

Assisted listening devices are available upon request from the Concierge Desk located in the Box Office Lobby on East Grace Street. A valid driver’s license or photo ID will be requested as a deposit for the equipment.

We offer **Sennheiser Mobile Connect** — a wireless solution that allows patrons to stream audio from our system to their smartphones or tablets. Guests can connect to the theater’s WiFi network with help from Concierge, and the audio will stream directly to their device — making it easy to pair with hearing aids or cochlear implants that support Bluetooth or 3.5mm input.

We also have a limited number of Mobile Connect-enabled receivers available for checkout at Concierge in case you have not been able to install the Sennheiser Mobile Connect app on your device before you arrive. Whether you choose a traditional receiver or connect wirelessly, we’re here to ensure you hear every note clearly.

Dominion Energy Center has two (2) public elevator, located across from Ground Floor Restrooms in the main lobby. These elevators provide access to all levels and are staffed by an attendant for all public performances.

Meet Your Seat

Visit the Mamava Pod via patron Elevator on Level 3 South which offers nursing mothers a private, comfortable pod space to breastfeed or pump during performances and events.

Accessible seating is available by request at the Dominion Energy Center Box Office on 6th Street, by phone at 804-592-3400, and online at Etix.com by filling out a special request form for Accessible Tickets on each performance sales page. Please indicate when buying tickets if you require handicapped accessible seating. Accessible seating is available during presale (if applicable) and when tickets go on sale to the public.

Because seating for persons with disabilities is limited, only three additional tickets are allowed for an attendant within the same section. If other tickets are needed, they will be placed as close as possible to the disabled section.

Accessible Restrooms are located in the Main Lobby across from patron Elevators. These restrooms include a private stall with grab bars. Accessible sinks are located within the restroom. Any of the Dominion Energy Center staff can direct any patrons to these facilities.

Kulture City sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, fidget toys, noise canceling headphones and other resources, are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our Concierge desk located in the Dominion Energy Center Box Office Lobby.

Trained service animals are permitted to assist guests inside the Dominion Energy Center. If special accommodations are required for your service animal, please notify us at the time of ticket purchase or by calling (804) 592-3384. Guests bringing in service animals may not take up additional seats unless a ticket has been purchased for the adjacent seat but may request accessible seating. All other animals are prohibited.

Dominion Energy Center schedules ASL interpreters for select performances in advance. When an interpreter is already scheduled for a show, that information will be noted on the event page. 

If no interpreter is currently scheduled for a performance you'd like to attend, ASL interpreter services may be requested (at no cost to the patron) by contacting the Dominion Energy Center Box Office at (804) 592-3368 at least 3 weeks prior to the event. The venue will do its best to facilitate all ASL requests and cannot guarantee all requests will be fulfilled, due to interpreter availability.  Please note that interpreter expenses are the responsibility of the show or the promoter.

Individuals who contact Dominion Energy Center regarding the purchase of tickets for wheelchair accessible and/or companion seats for reasons relating to a disability will be informed of all available such seating that has not been sold at that time and will be given first preference for such tickets. Individuals can also purchase ADA seats online at Etix.com.

Tickets for wheelchair accessible and/or companion seating will not be sold to any person, except a person requesting such seats for reasons relating to a disability, until all other seats in that ticket category have been sold.
