The James River Valley (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and The Links Foundation, Incorporated bring to Richmond for the first time, the Columbia City Ballet’s critically acclaimed, Off the Wall and Onto the Stage: Dancing the Art of Jonathan Green.  This is a benefit ballet performance.

The ballet described as…” ingenious and fabulous” …by The New York Times…” uses William Starrett’s breathtaking choreography to bring to life 22 paintings by renowned artist Jonathan Green.  Green is hailed as one of the most important contemporary painters of the Southern experience.  His bold, vibrant works of art depict the lifestyles and landscapes of his native low country, South Carolina, Gullah community.  The ballet called …” profound and soulful” … by the Tampa Tribune has generated sellout crowds in New York, Chicago, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida.

This 1.2-million-dollar production showcases hundreds of dazzling, handmade costumes and an exhilarating mix of jazz, gospel, classical, Motown and Caribbean music.  The Richmond event features cameo performances by RVA’s celebrated songstress, Desiree Roots and the famed Virginia Union University Choir.

Honorary co-chairs of this benefit performance are actress and philanthropist, Daphne Maxwell Reid, the Richmond Ballet’s artistic director, Stoner Winslett, actor and director Tim Reid and Kym Grinnage, VP & Gen. Mgr. WWBT/NBC12 & WUPV/CW.

The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations for women, with 292 chapters in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. Currently, Dominion Energy Center is operating at 100% capacity and is strongly encouraging all patrons, whether vaccinated or not, to mask while at the venue. We do not have a vaccination or negative test requirement in place as a venue, although promoters of our upcoming shows are considering multiple options, including the possibility of masks, vaccines, and COVID-19 tests.

At this time, this show does have additional requirements in place for patrons outside of the standing venue policies.
